Pocket Guide May releases
posted 14 May 2013 by Jo BrewerIt’s nearly Pocket Guide launch time again, and this time we’ve got two exciting new titles to kick off Collection Three. From next Tuesday, 21 May, you’ll be able to get your hands on CSS Animations by Val Head and Colour Accessibility by Geri Coady.
Here’s a bit more information about each title:
Colour Accessibility by Geri Coady
We often take colour for granted when choosing palettes for our designs, assuming the appearance will be the same for everyone.
In reality, the choices that look good to us could cause serious usability problems for people affected by various forms of colour-blindness, a type of disability that occurs in a surprisingly large percentage of the population.
This Pocket Guide will teach you how to create designs that are accessible to people with colour blindness without sacrificing aesthetics.
CSS Animations by Val Head
CSS animations open up a whole new way to look at and use CSS to bring motion to the web in creative ways. This Pocket Guide is designed to help you jump into using CSS animations in your own projects, providing a strong foundation on which to start experimenting and creating.
In this book Val covers the basics of CSS animations, walking you through a series of examples, and discussing practical considerations for dealing with browsers and fallbacks. You’ll have everything you need to start playing with CSS animations in just a couple of hours.

Both Geri and Val’s Pocket Guides will be on sale for £2 each, or as part of Collection Three for just £6. Geri and Val’s fellow Collection Three titles, Josh Long’s Design Evolution and The Standardistas’ The Craft of Words - Part Two, will both be available in June.
